Of Sarah Palin And Tax Policy: A Yousefzadeh-Imposed Application Of The Fairness Doctrine

In response to this post and my stated concerns that Governor Sarah Palin imposed a windfall profits tax on oil companies in Alaska, the great and good Beldar wrote this informative comment in which he argued that the tax imposed was not a windfall profits one, but a severance tax that is not confiscatory in nature.

I remain concerned over a report I cited in my post that this is a windfall profits tax and that it is causing oil companies to stay away from Alaska. But Beldar's post is characteristically insightful and informative and deserves to be aired publicly. I am glad to do so and I certainly hope that his analysis is the correct one.
