The newly famous Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher thinks he is a plumber. He thinks that he has a personal stake in the fate of high-income Americans.  He thinks his name is "Joe".   The State disagrees.

Who are you going to believe, Mr. Wurzelbacher or the State?  Kevin Drum assumes that the State's judgements are the true ones.  You are what the State deems you to be.

Tyler Cowen understands the problem.
