The Problem Of Quick Grandmaster Draws In Chess

Posted by Pejman Yousefzadeh on Sat Jan 12, 2008 at 05:39:30 PM EST

Discussed here. A potential solution to the problem is found here, though I imagine that in a game between grandmasters, a ten move window in which to contemplate whether or not the draw should be taken will not clear that many things up (I would think that in most cases, the grandmasters in question would be able to divine whether or not it is advantageous for them to take the draw). My preferred solution is Fischer chess, though again, no one will implement that solution because no one wants to give its deranged namesake any credit for anything good in chess nowadays. Understandably so, I might add.
