We live in interesting times, our prosaic tendency to take those times for granted notwithstanding.
(And since the very first comment to Megan's post is off-topic, I will go off-topic as well and express the hope that Megan will start banning commenters over at her new digs with an exceedingly heavy hand. Unfortunately, with Megan's success and her move to The Atlantic have come a whole host of "readers"--yes, I use that term loosely--who believe that it is not enough to express a disagreement with certain posts in a civilized manner, but that they ought to be crude and insulting about it as well. Nothing will keep me from reading Megan McArdle. But at her old blog, the commenters were fun to read as well. Pity that has changed.)
