A Chequer-Board of Nights and Days

An Illogical Admission

I feel guilty when I watch the television. Horribly guilty. I feel as if the time I spent in front of the TV was time wasted, time I could have spent doing something more intellectually productive.

Don't get me wrong. I enjoy the little TV I allow myself. And sometimes, I even catch myself thinking "you know, you ought to watch some TV more often, if only to know what is going on with popular culture."

But I still feel guilty. And I probably will continue to feel guilty for a rather long time.

But maybe, I shouldn't.

There are many, many more productive things than watching TV... like writing blogs.  However, if you feel guilty about not doing anything, find something to do while you watch.  Most of what's on nowadays doesn't require the complete attention of an adult-sized brain to comprehend.  So fold laundry, peel potatoes, or work on some other kind of busywork while you watch.  Then you can keep up with popular culture while you get something useful done.

If you don't have any busywork of your own, and you are married, ask your wife for some of hers.  I'm sure she could give you all the busywork you could stand. ;)
