I suppose that this story should come as little surprise and should serve as an indication that the investigation into Rafik Hariri's death has gotten uncomfortably close to the Syrian leadership. About the only question remaining is whether this was a genuine suicide, or one that was urged upon Ghazi Kenaan with special vigor by those who were afraid that he might reveal even more valuable information.
Whatever the case, this is an expression of weakness from a regime whose iron grip is clearly slipping. It will be most interesting to watch ongoing developments--and perhaps to give those developments a nudge every now and then.
